An imbalance I think about a lot these days is how much harder it is to build things than it is to destroy them

Disposable society. Everything has been instant and disposable for decades. It is all anyone knows now.
Going to have a lost generation after this.
This has always been true. But Americans used to be known for building things and working hard for them. Now our society is entitled and lazy. People would rather blame others than look in the mirror.
Not loving how much the average democratic political system incentivizes short term thinking tbh 😬
It owes much to Entropy Theory.

Came here to make a Wrath of Khan reference & am delighted to see that you’ve got that base covered!
For the longest time, this was my 20s and 30s, my go to handle online was EntropyWins. It would generate some interesting discussions occasionally.
This is what America will find out of a Democrat can ever be elected again. 😢 The cost to rebuild what has been destroyed will be crazy!
A lot easier to make fish soup out of an aquarium than an aquarium out of fish soup.
The Greeks look directly at the Romans.
Entropy counts how many ways you can break something

And it always wins
True for all of history.
Absolutely 💯
A lot of entertainment media presents a hero who solves problems simply by killing/destroying the correct targets. This isn't bad somehow, it's a function of human nature, but it is vastly different from solving real world problems
We have an administration that is nothing but arsonists.
Yep
Conservatives are forever stuck in that toddler mindset where they have to compulsively knock down the block towers
Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one.

On my mind daily.
Yep. Now apply that to all the infrastructure keeping you alive. The gangs of crazed weirdos. How vulnerable it is. And how it's likely maintained by a corp, who may not want to repair it if it's not profitable, and what agencies may exist to compel them to save you

things ain't great, plz be safe
My husband was just asking how things are different than usual. “When he first took office, didn’t Biden undo a lot of what Trump had done? Doesn’t the pendulum swing back and forth each time?” I tried to describe how destroying entire institutions isn’t something you can just flip back on.
It's really easy to build things. Managers do it all the time. You write a task in excel and it automatically gets done. Once completed, you make the cell green. The harsh green, that's easiest to select, not a pleasing green. The only physical requirement is a $120k lower bound for your salary.
