You hold the Bar to a very low bar. It has been a decade. This should have been issued, minimally, with regard to Trump’s criminality & SCOTUS immunity ruling. It wasn’t. Why not?
“We urge every attorney to join us and insist that our government, a government of the people, follow the law. It is part of the oath we took when we became lawyers. Whatever your political party or your views, change must be made in the right way. Americans expect no less.”
The ABA is a voluntary bar association. They do not regulate attorney’s licenses. That is up to the disciplinary body in the state where the lawyer is licensed, generally the state bar association or state Supreme Court. But the ABA is full of big firm establishment lawyers, so important statement.
It was very much needed. It shows where the ABA stands. It shows the attys that are afraid to fight that they are not alone. It shows the American people that our laws are still intact... and it shows those who are bending/forcing/breaking our laws that they are seen for who they really are.
Maybe the American Bar Association could start proceedings to disbar every lawyer siding and abetting the attack on our legal system currently being carried out by Unelected President Musk and his bought-and-paid-for figurehead, Donald, with the complicity of every single Republican in Congress?
The question of how to manage potus who doesn’t follow rule of law: hold the attorneys accountable! They are not immune in state courts! He can only pardon in federal cases.
Yep, it took a comstitutional crisis for American lawyers to finally stand up for the rule of law. The rest of the time, they're busy trying to find ways around it.
You need to begun expelling the criminal element in the legal profession - the ones that file cases for Trump for example. Look how many of them have been disbarred already.
I'm a cynical attorney of some 30+ years, and i have never felt pride in the ABA like i do at this moment.
Maybe this can wake the public up to just how perilous things are getting. We're one step away from a revolution, and if he refuses to abide by the law, it is our duty to remove him by force.
What about all the lawyers who are engineering this? Shouldn't they be disbarred for violating the oath they took when they were admitted as members? People like Vought?
Judges don’t have the authority to suspend or revoke the licenses of attorneys; only the attorney disciplinary body in each state can do that. Judges can hold attorneys in contempt and impose sanctions against them, but can’t take an attorney’s license.
Actually, not true. Judges do have the authority to suspend an attorney’s license even without intervention of the state bar. State bar is the usual route but a judge has control and the ultimate authority as to who can practice in his court.
A judge may be able to limit who can practice in his court, but that doesn’t give him the authority to suspend the attorney’s license in all courts throughout the state. Attorneys are entitled to due process before their license can be suspended.
A good statement but there need to be professional consequences for those violating their oath, lying to courts & other tribunals, & failing to provide independent legal judgment - especially within the DOJ.

Trump’s lawyers must present good faith opposition to these Constitutional challenges.
When they instead rely on lies, subterfuge & gamesmanship, their states should act, sua sponte.
Not *wait* for us to file.
Hint: Today would be a good day to start - that would send the intended message much better than a communique.
And I misspoke - it's the Declaration of Independence that makes it incumbent upon us to take action.
This is where their devout adherence to the second amendment can turn around and bite them on the ass.
so unusual that it's terrifying
The judiciary continues to prove how its principles only extend to self gratification...
If the judiciary wasn't the clown show that it is, Trump he would be in jail, not the president.
We’re hopeful as the string of EO cases make their way up to the SC…🙏…hopeful, but after the immunity decision optimism is hard to find.
For me it’s on RobertsCJ & BarrettJ. AlitoJ & ThomasJ are in the oligarchy.
We need the law to stand up
