The guy in question was a Democrat, but even if he was a Trumper, we should be happy that people are recognizing what is happening and speaking out. Engaging in schadenfreude helps no one. Just amplify these stories and raise awareness to build opposition.

Just saw a thread about a guy calling into cspan saying his diabetic supplies increased from 5 dollars to 80 dollars and somebody in the comments, probably multiple people but I stopped reading, replied “FAFO” and I can’t stress enough how much you need to stop doing that shit

Short term, not being sympathetic to Trumpers might mean losing some support to fight him.
*But*, this doesn't matter because they are only upset now because *they* have been hurt by their choice -
Hence, if you're sympathetic to them now, this doesn't fix the long term problem: that these are selfish people, who don't care if the dude they support does general evil.
And I don't live in the US, so my opinion doesn't really matter. But I tend to agree with her. Why welcome ppl like this with open arms, when it would seem that if they had the ability to see the wrong Trump is doing, they should have seen it before now.
But Rebecca's other point is that if these ppl are only worried about *their* suffering, they are open to being fooled again (and again...) to damaging populism.
