well for one businesses shouldn't be inherited by family solely because it's family. And two businesses shouldn't be sold without consent from de facto unlimited-term employees, who would also need to be fairly compensated.

Yup. My company is going though this right now. Owner died, his son sold out the company to private equity, and now it's being stripped apart. We were very profitable & our industry's leader 4 years ago, and now we're being ransacked to prop up the other failed holdings for the equity group...
