Looking at the LeoLabs and Slingshot data, I thought for all money it was dead last year. My guess is that it’s ‘coming back to life’ suggests it has some tech onboard related to satellite resilience and ROSCOSMOS are thinking about developing more robust space hardware.

That’s my guess. The reason Russia and China both oppose a DA-ASAT test ban and want to focus efforts on PAROS and PPWT is that they know US counter space capabilities outstrip their own (although China have been doing some tasty manoeuvres in GEO so I suspect their counterspace game is strong).

Makes sense. My read is we’ve had an operational ASAT weapon(s) system for a while. It came up a few times in Trump’s first term and under Biden whether to declassify it with a demo for deterrence, like I mentioned on the pod. Curious if that’s back on the table in the near future.
