If the producer of "60 Minutes" wanted to stand up for the First Amendment, he would have, instead of quitting because the Trump Administration was trying to quash the show's First Amendment rights, ran a segment on how the authoritarian Trump administration was trying to illegally censor the show.

Maybe Owens ends up taking some pressure off his 60 Minutes colleagues because CBS doesn't want more heat.
But I've never been in his shoes either.
I hope EVERY real reporter across the country takes this as a challenge.
Boo hoo. What a blow. I love 60 minutes news stories-the best!
CBS has never been sued before for anything ever so this is uncharted waters for them
There is no reporting, due to the US commercialized "news" system. The society is at fault, not one single individual.
I would have wanted Owens to stay and fight too, but if he's in his 70s, I can see why he would have said "fuck this, I'm out".
We need an ethics mandate on news outlets/publishers. Online sources especially. Take away the collaborators & bad actors and a lot of this problem goes away.
Caving to a tyrant
I always enjoyed the show... now, not so much.
Quitting with just a letter, no matter how harsh, simply clears the way for stooges.
DO NOT QUIT!!
MAKE THEM FIRE YOU!!
THEY'LL HAVE TO JUSTIFY IT, AND YOU'LL QUALIFY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT!
DAMN!!!

They sell out easy.
It doesn't work like that. Everything that airs has to clear legal and corporate. The producer has no ability to run such a piece without consent, and given 60 Minutes history and negotiations, it is unlikely it would be given.
In-character items with massive sarcasm, to me, are Bettie. This seemed more reflective of the actor’s honest beliefs or understanding, hence the callout.
