Definitely! I am a big believer in using the Limit Replies option (for everyone, not just me). Some people DO NOT CARE FOR that approach, but if I start doing links again, that is probably what I will do.

Also one of these ppl who wants to see your work on here. Agree w person who said peak Twitter was like Google Reader — but better bc ppl, on top of posting their work/takes/art/etc, would reshare stuff they deemed important/liked/etc. Hope this place can be like that

I actually do like the heads up when you post an article. I think for a while you were doing that on Mastodon when we were all giving that one a try. But if it turns into a pie fight that is unenjoyable for you, I can go direct to the NYT Television section.

One of the primary reasons I'm on social media (beyond keeping up with friends and enjoying some clever little jokes) is to find good things to read, so I would always encourage people not just to post links to their own stuff but to post (or repost) links to other articles. FWIW

This app can’t fix this entirely, but something I miss from the early teens internet was the robust culture of sharing and citation. Sites posting curated lists of good culture writing. Critics citing and engaging in their peer’s essays in their own writing. This is not THAT, but it feels closer.

It’s funny because one common criticism of journalists and writers on social media is “they’re just talking to each other.” Which I understand can refer to a kind of smug insularity, but also… Yeah? Like, I don’t get pissed off that scientists mainly want to talk to other scientists on social

There are some journalists, academics, historians, and so on who really took to social media with a mission of public engagement and education. And that’s great! That’s one way to use it. But at some point, it got twisted into that being the only proper way. People can choose their audiences!

I’ll say that a big part of the appeal of Twitter to me was that it served as a sort of replacement for Google Reader/RSS: I followed people I liked to read because I wanted to read their stuff when it was published.

Same. I'm admittedly lazy, so I loved when journalists and critics posted links to their work. At the same time, I also appreciate getting a peak at someone's life and interests outside of their work. Jake Tapper posts about the Eagles and dogs as much as he does CNN. 😁

I literally have the link to “Latest” on your NYT profile page bookmarked because it’s the only way I can remind myself to search for your pieces. But I don’t do so all that regularly, so yes, I would prefer seeing links in my feed. Just one reader’s opinion!
