Also, this is a *perfect example* of the kind of bureaucratic layer that makes actually doing things in government sometimes hard! Do you a VA nurse spending her time providing health care or writing Elon an email about “What I Did Last Week”?

Oh my god, Eric Adams is going to accidentally free Luigi. Amazing.

I completely agree with this, and with the thread. If you don't discuss racism as a giant motivating factor (not the only one, but a huge one), you can't cover this administration, these people, or their party accurately.

This was the moment, just over a month ago, when the ADL could've put an end to Republicans doing Nazi salutes. They didn't. They chose instead to provide cover by calling it "an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm." Now the sieg heil salute has been normalized. The ADL literally had ONE JOB.

What if what the things they got done are classified? What if they work at a remote post with limited access to email? What if they’re stuck on the space station?

russia is a kleptocratic dictatorship, an economy and political system in decline under a government that stopped investing in human capital decades ago. the united states alliance with europe is far more valuable and should be treated as such by american leaders.

Did you know, for example, that the Founders created their own “department of government efficiency” when they declared independence from British bureaucrats in 1776? They called it the Continental Congress, or “Congress” for short. Fortunately, the name isn’t currently in use.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

The Supreme Court, in its first decision on Trump’s use of executive power in his second term, rules that he cannot, for now, remove a government lawyer who leads the watchdog agency that protects whistle-blowers. @adamliptak.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

This is how it’s done.

NEW: Not only is DOGE's man in the Treasury Department keeping his day job as CEO of Cloud Software Group, his company currently has millions of dollars in government contracts. Including with the Treasury Department. More from @peard33.bsky.social www.wired.com/story/krause...

Trump claims to only care about the undocumented. Instead he is de-documenting those here legally.

we need a 4-part netflix docuseries about the time azealia banks was trapped in elon musk’s house with grimes

I’m encouraged by these town halls but I also remember very clearly how this happened in 2017 as well. Instead of responding to the complaints, they stopped doing them. www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpo...

at what point does the media acknowledge these guys are actively doing the nazi salute specifically bc they enjoy the media contorting themselves into ways that don’t call it a nazi salute. it’s trolling, like the 👌🏼 thing was. but it’s also, quite clearly, a nazi salute!

more evil, hateful bullshit the “biological sex” thing is so annoying because it’s not just bigoted it’s also bad science. i am intersex and also physically transitioning, the fuck bathroom do i belong in. they mean sex assigned at birth, which is … based on a doctor just looking at the infant

I think there’s this tendency to assume Musk enters each agency with some kind of plan. But his office is 30 people, largely children, and the federal government employs millions. He spends half his time on drugs, tweeting, doing interviews. It’s all random noise www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

One thing I’ve been struck by since writing a book about Trump and TV is how many of his supporters 1) are super distrustful of the media and Hollywood and 2) believe “They wouldn’t have let him on TV if he weren’t a really successful businessman”

Big vibe shift in #GA07 👀

elon musk at cpac was so fucking weird you guys I know this reads like a parody but I literally just wrote down what happened www.theverge.com/elon-musk/61...

I can't speak for the entirety of Judaism, but me, Joe Uchill, naive cyber policy guy, but when it comes to antisemitism, I'm more threatened by a sieg heil being cheered at a domestic political rally than a college kid protesting American foreign policy.

this is breaking my brain and scaring me in ways i had not previously conceived

This is exactly how Hitler talked. It's not even a comparison or analogy, as people claim. It's a direct connection in ideology as well as a similar approach to governance and relationship to democracy. This needs to be how we talk about it. They are the ideological descendants of Hitler.

dying to know where this inanity came from. did the 78 y/o director call up @thr.com to complain? has he been whining so loudly to anyone that will listen that THR heard and called him up? did no say to him: "you just sound jealous, are you sure this is a good idea?"

when that honey scam youtube video came out a few months ago, I never dove in… punchline is there's a pretty juicy fight (now a legal one) about who should get affiliate link revenues… good story here, core of today's @wsj.com daily news pod

Elon’s busy schedule today is claiming astronauts were left in the ISS for political reasons, getting corrected by an ISS astronaut, throwing a fit where he calls the astronaut a slur, then complaining that we should deorbit the ISS

Good, thoughtful conversation — the bit about election reforms that would help depolarize our politics (open primaries, independent redistricting, capping PAC spending) around the 55min mark is key.
