Amazingly all parties support this. Even though there is a little bit of socialism in there. Even the greens and reform! Never thought I would see that
Somewhat too late I feel. Sadly. Not convinced it was about greed, she just reckoned the market economy worked better. She never envisioned China owning half our critical utilities she just thought "oh those nice people from Surbiton will buy our water companies".
What exactly will the new law do?
This bill allows government to direct the board and staff of British Steel
The government will be able to order raw materials to keep the site's two running blast furnaces in operation, saving it from closure
Though the government does not own the plant ...
Brittish capitalists are so stupid that it will take central planning to fix their country. They should have powered through and joined the Soviet Union in the 70's.
The history of capitalism is the history of missed opportunities for the working class and wasted resources and of course pedophilia
And they will still lose billions on it. Give it a month and the unions will demand a 35% pay rise as they are apparently producing a strategic resource which you can buy at a fraction of the price elsewhere. Classic Labour nationalisation failure.
Why ? It’s a commodity available almost anywhere. Buy a load and store it if necessary but don’t waste billions on keeping people in jobs which are economically non-viable. There’s all sorts of things that are ‘strategic’ according to your logic. How about we make our own chips and computers ?
I hope now the people who voted Brexit in that area and would consider reform realise who is really on their side. I can guarantee if reform were in power that would not try and protect British steel and jobs.

Well cool, now do Grangemouth
Have they passed a bill to outlaw "irony" as well?
