I went to my Local (Albert Eden) Board meeting for the 1st time today and there were some weird moments there too. Main issue discussed? How to respond to Govt forcing Auckland to reverse lower speed limits brought in since 2020, without funding Auckland to do so.

Boards can and are allowed to advocate for things outside the scope of what they can approve/not approve.

They do not need a 100% concensus to do this.

2. The Local Board cannot write to the Minister to object to the community not having a say on speeds locally because some people in the local community agree that the speeds should be returned to the higher limits they had before

3. Both arterial and local roads should all have 50kmph speed limits for consistency so busy drivers don't get confused, yet having speed limits outside school gates change for short periods twice a day on school days isn't confusing or inconsistent at all.
