A prescient dialogue written by the dearly missed Terry Pratchett describing current affairs in “Going Postal”

Wondering what politicians who don’t think abortion is healthcare think it is. Actually don’t answer that.

The current minister for HEALTH…except for women’s health, obviously. 🙄🤦‍♀️ #nzpol

I'm joining Council's Transport Resilience & Infrastructure Committee online this morning as I'm at the airport about to fly out around the middle of the day. I'll stay on as long as I can before I need to get off to board etc (done security etc early!)

New baby formula standards were designed to prioritise infant nutrition and take the pressure off parents. But for formula companies, profits were at stake. And that's when the lobbying kicked in. #nzpol

April is sexual assault awareness month so I'd like to say a huge get fucked to every man who has ever touched a woman without her consent. a massive fuck you to every man who has helped himself to someone else's body. a big I hate you to every man who has leered & lurked & made women uncomfortable

Second tranche of the #SafeSpeedsCycleChallenge, reporting late because I woke up to a full calendar on Monday, did some ks on Tuesday, and then got distracted by more meetings

I don't know Benjamin Doyle at all, I suspect we'd agree on a lot. Regardless of whether we share views though NO ONE should be getting this abuse. We all benefit from having an inclusive democracy and society, and these attacks absolutely have a chilling effect on who participates. Not OK.

Question for local govt elected members around Aotearoa - does your council etc have some kind of whip's office function at all? I don't mean the traditional sense of Parliamentary whip, like making sure people vote a certain way, more the modern sense where their office coordinates leave...

You actually don’t need to do journalism this way. The choice to centre David Seymour in an article about an MP receiving death threats feels like centering the person who says “it’s not that bad” in an assault case. It also normalises threats towards the Rainbow community - irresponsible framing.

I first properly got to know Rebecca in 2000, when she was working for the Alliance and rang me to suggest I put up my hand to be co-coordinator of their youth wing. Her whole adult life she’s worked for equity and justice. Definitely one of my faves.

Proud to be a long time supporter of the #LivingWage!

Took the opportunity to document my journey home from town today on the 27 bus in the @juliefairey.bsky.social Seat of Love

We are chuffed to announce our three Governing Body candidates for the 2025 elections. @juliefairey.bsky.social and @jonturnernz.bsky.social for the Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward seats and @patrickreynolds.bsky.social for Waitematā. cityvision.org.nz/featured-pos...

Bsky is for transport stunts: Today I'm riding all the Albert-Eden streets that are set to lose safe speeds, or as far as I can get with a fully charged bike. www.facebook.com/share/1HLs1E... #SafeSpeedsCycleChallenge

On a bit of a public transport adventure today with Early Thomas, my most junior junior associate. We’ve just walked down to catch our first bus through Molley Green Reserve where there’s a community garden working bee for Neighbours’ Day. Also hiding painted rocks for RocksNZ (on fb) as we go 1/n

Um no thanks 😂

I think the weirdest moment for me today (and there were a few) was Cr Watson taking a jab at all the other councillors for accepting Eden Park Trust hospo. When he accepted it the most times? (9 according to the Herald). FTR I just bought myself and some friends tix to the Blues v Moana game.

For those looking to follow along with the Main Stadium debate at Auckland Council without actually watching it may I recommend this thread... (PS we may finish this item by 6pm but we have some procedurals after that and another confidential item too eeeek)
