Especially in earlier examples of AI art, we often see a glowing, unrealistically soft quality in the light of the picture. Ethereal fantasy, as if out of a video game or dream. AI artists also love teal and gold for some reason.

Numbers don’t add up. Count fingers, toes, legs, and especially in the pip cards, count the swords, wands, pentacles, etc. AI doesn’t know when to stop.

The devil is in the details. Notice how AI images are overworked, too many details without logic or structure or even endings. Details fade off into nothing. Edges, geometry, and designs seem busy or chaotic, without symmetry.

AI suuuucks at language. If it’s supposed to be words or you as a human think it might be words, AI has probably garbled it.

I hope that helped! Check in with your gut when shopping for decks on any website (all of these were examples on Etsy).

If a deck seems too beautiful to be true, too complicated with undefined or chaotic details, or the numbers don’t add up, chances are it’s AI and not human art. SUPPORT ARTISTS!
