THIS is the primary argument against Citizens United!
Companies have only one goal, and it’s mandatory (“fiduciary responsibilities”) - that’s to make a profit. It’s in the first sentence of a charter (“for-profit”).
Citizens are (presumably) more nuanced and can balance wants/needs/now/future!
Even if a corporation does the “right thing”, by definition it does so because it is in their shareholder’s fiduciary best interests- otherwise they could be fired for doing it.
