I don't know about the term self coup. I mean I know it exists but it's misleading. Trump isn't overthrowing himself, he's overthrowing the government, which is not the same thing.

A self coup is when you break the legal structure of a country with the intent of remaining in power.
It’s a term commonly used in countries were the President stays in power through anti democratic actions.

I don't think this is a productive way to think about things. Democracies operate according to rules and it's not within the framework of those rules for voters to decide, in a simple election, to do away with democratic process. This mistakes opinion for election.

Formal democracy isn't the same as democracy. A president that runs against democracy can never be legitimate in a democracy, formally or in fact. That was the case in 2016 and it is now, plus the fact that Trump is not eligible to be president.
