The only one I've ever owned was an Atari Lynx. Great fun. Had to solder a connector for power as the socket broke off from the board. Chewed through AA's like nothing on earth. Then the kids left home so no replacement ever bought.

I’ve only owned three. A PlayStation 2, a Wii (40th birthday present from the family) and a Switch (bought second hand from my youngest). Had my fill of consoles at work.

No SNES? You should try it someday. It's a slow but beautiful beast. I bet the Megadrive is more fun to code, but unfortunately I never had the chance. It's on my list of things to do!

Nah, that one passed me by. Mike Follin moved onto the SNES at Creations so was the obvious choice for SNES at Malibu. The NES was a royal pain tbh. Put me off Nintendo for a while.

For me the worst was the GBA. Coding it was nice in C and ARM asm, but sounded like crap. It didn't have a proper sound chip, only 2 8 bit digital channels plus the Game Boy channels. To make more digital voices you had to mix them in software on the main 16mhz CPU, at very low sample rate.

They all did something great that at the time i couldnt experience elsewhere.
