Politically, she will give him a campaign issue (White woman removes black man from office) while they both campaign for office...he as an independent candidate. They both share the same political base, i.e., black voters. He has started, by visiting black churches, rallying his base.

Maybe it will work out, but now he'll get to do a lot of damage for Trump in the meantime. This isn't just about him being corrupt, I can live with a mildly crooked mayor. Not one who sells the city out to a fascist mob boss, and sells out our neighbors. I hope the voters will be wiser this time.

I don't disagree with all you said. The Gov. is up for re-election and she shares the same base with Adams. Removing Adams now is good for the city in the short-term. If he wins re-election, as an independent using race and dividing Dems., she will have a hard time being re-elected.
