Wild part is, dems can't even make up our mind what companies are on the blackout list. Meanwhile, I was warned that we would not be shopping AT ALL today. The lack of organization and willingness to sacrifice to send the message is astounding
Y'all are disorganized AF and as someone who has already been boycotting most of these companies every day for years and planned ahead to ensure I spent not 1 cent today, I'm embarrassed to be part of this group that can't come together to do a damn thing in unison. It's actually ridiculous.
Like wtf even is THIS. This fool is apparently just not shopping online, while I forbade my houshold from buying so much as a water from the corner store. WTF are we even doing?
Yeah a little too late. Yall need to spread the word better. Ya need to get the heavy hitters like @moveon.org to lead these things amd a general strike.
People are saying this will have no effect. Trump & the oligarchs will deny or ridicule the action, I believe it will escalate rapidly. Boycotts will become permanent. America needs to hit the street, protest, boycott, strike, hold townhalls. Ask law makers, do you support the Constitution or Trump?
Meanwhile Katy Perry and Gayle King are going to space in Bezos’ rocket today, but I’m sure you waiting till tomorrow to get you toenail clippers off Amazon will make a dent.
After today, think of sharing and spreading this tactic. The old, normal-times playbook on boycotts, strikes...no longer work. A Mad King with unlimited power simply ignores them, or crushes them. 'Swipe Out MAGA' does it much better, if someone implements it.
Didn’t know Uber was on list but I got up at the crack of dawn to take my kid to campus to help and encourage him to buy NOTHING! It’s just a tiny bit but that’s how we eat an elephant… one bite at a time.
The economic blackout should be permanent for:
Amazon
Tesla
Walmart
Target
Best Buy
Home Depot
Meta
Google
& every corporation, organization, business & individual supporting fascist dictatorship of, by & for white supremacist christofascism of the obscenely wealthy: class war.
One day won't affect anything significant, but it can certainly show a unified front and the power of the masses if harnessed properly. Hopefully Hugecorp will get the message.
As I've been commenting on other posts this is really just symbolic. Most of these have markets and other countries so unless they make it a worldwide thing they'll just put their focus on other parts of the world.
Target operates mostly in US and Canada so this will hurt them if enough people participate. Stocking up the day before does negate the effectiveness of a boycott as they can average impact out for the quarter.
So to be truly effective, start now and try a 40 day consumer fast as that will bridge quarters and they can't hide that. To really mess with them, make a cart on your account and leave it *open*. Or buy something and then don't pick it up. They'll have to refund but they have to eat transaction fee
Lots of Canadians are participating. Their entire government is recommending their citizens don’t even travel to the US. This can spread. Don’t count it out just yet
Look at Tesla’s dropping influence in Europe and Canada in addition to the United States. It’s estimated that muskrat has lost billions of dollars since January because of his shenanigans. Canadians are boycotting American products. The felon in chief and muskrat are detested the world over.
I suggest you take a look at what boycotts have already been doing to the stocks of Tesla, Target, Walmart, and other companies that are being boycotted once they either made their support of the felon in chief known and/or backing away from their DEI policies. Today is a day to underline our power
Same..... all the protests I'm seeing on tv.... not here. If I have to kiss ass to another MAGA wearing customer at work, I'm gonna scream. It's sad that I don't feel safe as a Democrat in my own town.
Maybe some minority owned businesses will work in the long run. There are some lists & apps for black & lgbtqia+ owned businesses starting to make their presence known
Each KFC has a different quality to it. The only one I've ever loved is the one Harlan Sanders opened in Corbin, Kentucky, in 1930. The pieces are huge and have a better flavor than any others of the franchise I've ever been in.
Well, won't be trying that anytime soon. I always give up meat for Lent and its only for fifty days (Eastern Orthodox Lent is longer than Catholic Lent).
But I also think of it as good for my health, and for the environment. Eating less meat. May not fully give it up but I eat it less

2. Go TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOMES OF R REPS, WHERE YOU LIVE and peacefully protest with how they have hurt us.
3. If in DC protest at Heritage foundation.
Wouldn't buy anyways today since eBay pissed me off by axing WANT IT NOW and putting up dumb excuses to justify keeping it off forever and https://TradeMe.co.nz not letting me join but letting some US sellers join and
also not doing WANT IT NOW only for them it would be WANT NOW. I am looking for some ultra-rare unavailable things anyway, some Toyota Tercel sales brochures, press information, accessories brochures and print parts catalogs from ,
BRUNEI, THE BAHAMAS, DOMINICA, ANTIGUA, ST. VINCENT, ST. KITTS, CHILE, NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA, EGYPT, SAUDI ARABIA, NETHERLANDS, THE UK, INDONESIA, ETC.
Buy Nothing. Nada. Here’s an idea: Get a library card. Check out a book on Black History, American History, World History. Your ancestors history. Or get a video. Be enlightened! Save your money. Or, after today, visit your favorite mom & pop bookstore.
Actually, it could be fun to fill your Amazon cart full of high end TVs, computers, appliances... and whatever else costs lots of money (like you are going to buy them)... and then let them sit in your cart for a few days. Oh, never mind.
That will not be difficult. Listening to his monotonous, dysfluent voice is like listening to a thousand nails slowly scraping their way down a chalkboard.
Do you think they (the big box companies) will let us know if the boycott was a success? I have my doubts. They could never admit how powerful their consumers are. As a detriment
Today and everyday, until these companies pay their fair share of taxes, understand the politicians work for the American public, and they understand racism, sexism, bigotry, and any other kind of hate will not be tolerated!!! And even then I might never give them my money. Untied we stand
Whether or not people consider a bouycott effective is not for debate. IMO
The greatest values of this effort is that it gets people in step and connected by a uniform action.
Bonds, alliances and groups are being formed every second of the day now.
It is the beginning of a long program of actions.
It's an ill conceived idea with no point. People who are "participating" openly talk about how they're going to shop before or after. It's like self flagellation with a minor inconvenience and shouting at corporations like, "I'm standing up to you," and then walking in the door the next day.
Shop Costco today! They support DEI, and they take care of their employees! Even part time workers get full benefits, including dental and vacation days! They also provide health insurance for pets! This is how to run a company!
Participating today. I think with the assaults coming at us from every direction, we need to do more than a day. We need to hit them harder and faster. Vaccines... come on?? RFKjr is going to kill us all with his stupidity. The list is endless of urgent matters. We need to have rolling blackouts.
Please check my feed for ALL the Oligarch's companies & who to avoid from here on out. Yes, all of the companies mentioned are included, but there are many more companies that need to take a hit.
There are some commenters on another platform who didn't get enough hugs from daddy as a child, and it shows. "Spending extra!" today. Throwing all their money at other men that don't give a poot about them either. So dumb.
Yeah, this is a cake-walk for us Canadians🇨🇦, everyday is “Boycott US products, businesses, services & travel day” for 85% of us since your supreme leader threatened our very right to exist as a nation 🤬 - & will continue until you oust this nightmare unleashed on us all. #never51 #SorryNotSorry
This is resistance, a "take notice" move all who care about democracy can partake.
Resistance isn't futile.
Revolution is necessary.

Well, not totally surprised, but very disappointed - every parking lot is full today where I live - Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Chick fil A, Best Buy, every single store and restaurant. Guess they owned the libs here on the MS coast. I have to go to work, but am not spending one penny on anything
Living with paraplegia means daily challenges. I'm raising funds for an enclosed mobility scooter to boost my independence and improve my quality of life. Every donation truly matters. Your support means the world to me. More details on my GoFundMe. Donating or sharing is great. https://gofund.me/0af928df
Today would be a good day to find any local, small, independent, minority-owned bookstores in your area, and go buy a book from them. Don't use credit cards, use cash.
You know, last night I was wondering about how this is going to affect small businesses, & was really concerned. Hubby even put it on our calendar (proud of him!) but now I'm craving stuff from our local Japanese market. 😭
Next boycott I think I'll shop small. Today I shop small tomorrow. 🫤
A month ago, I discovered a year-old bookstore in a section of the city I'd not been in before. It's small, independent, woman-owned, and very liberal. I christened the place by buying a book, using cash.
Love this! I work in data for a business and this stuff is definitely tracked and reported to leadership. If enough people say they won’t shop or work with a business due to their decisions it will have an effect
I manage a chain store, curious to see if we are as busy as normal on Friday night. I myself need absolutely nothing today, I will be packing my lunch, not one penny will be spent 😂😂 hopefully enough stand strong and we make an impact!

Today is a blackout day to not buy anything, but every day since the election results I've started a boycott list of businesses that obey in advance, and I will keep those businesses boycotted indefinitely.
I don't have the time & space to list all, and I'm still researching who to add to it, but here's a short list of big brands:
Walmart, Target, Amazon, Netflix, McDonald's, Burger King, Home Depot, Lowes, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Tesla, Toyota, X (Twitter), Facebook (META), Nike, NFL, NASCAR.
I'm glad this shows the exception for all businesses, we need to show them all the love and money we can! Too many things have said nothing about NOT including small business, which we should always support!
I haven’t bought from any of these business for about a month and a half. And will not buy in the future.. unfortunately I drove by whole foods today and saw a lot of people in there. Guess I’m doing my part.
I just love how Donald Trump lives rent -free in the minds of these moronic unhinged mentally ill Democrats and I especially love watching it for the next 4 years
Not just one day for me! I cancelled Amazon on inauguration day and will boycott any and all companies or products supporting this coup. Democracy deserves more than one day. This includes all stocks in any companies either. I have liquidated my stock portfolio of traitors to democracy!!
What? Please explain to me how the Pita Hut or Lavash chose Jill Stein? This is about supporting immigrant and minority owned local businesses in our community. Was this an accidental response to the wrong post?
I am not buying anything today, but I think this needs to be a sustained effort!! We should have an economic blackout every Wednesday!! We need to create momentum so many others can join in. They can show up by not showing up! It can be a quiet act, but have a huge impact
I know for Nestle, that their CEO stated years back that water is NOT a basic right. Gave up Nestle immediately, I don't care how much I love my San Pelligrino there are others to choose from that are just as good.
let's go beyond a 24hr boycott. start finding ways to live your life without relying on amazon/walmart/etc. get creative and learn how to live without all the bullshit they have convinced us we "need"
Watching the documentary 'Buy More' on Netflix should be mandatory. It was an eye-opener for me to learn that these corporations are responsible for consumerism through psychological manipulation. The result is overconsumption and an ecological disaster.

That 2300 dollars won’t be paid until later as it’ll be at least 4 months for it to be custom built and installed.
Small local business to boot.

Micro actions daily are the key. They are snowballing.
No quit, no quarter, 24/7.

I also never go to Whole Foods [aka #WholeMart.]
Completely DeGoogling is surprisingly hard.
I could do it.
Could you do it???
Them!
Didn't like it. The meat tasted unsatisfying and weird.

However, for effectiveness...
I think this should be, at least, a monthly occurrence.
Or, we could designate one day a week in protest.

NO amazon
NO Target
NO Whole Foods
NO Walmart
NO Best Buy
NO Uber
SHUT THEM DOWN!
You mean I can't go to the Wal-Mart and fight the MAGAt crowd to get my new picture box that's on sale???

We - as a movement - need WAY more of this.
It really isn't going to do anything except give some people the "feeling" that they actually are fighting back.
Which, of course they are not because they will buy their China made product from AmaWalGET tomorrow.
Because 4 months ago 90 million Americans thought lifting a finger was too much work!
