Interesting finding spotted by @jordischroeder.bsky.social in @ecb.europa.eu #EconomicBulletin: automatic wage indexation in 🇧🇪 seems to not only protect real wages, but also reduce (undue pessimistic) household income misperceptions. Important given impact of negative perceptions on HH consumption.
Two important points here. In Belgium, where wages are indexed, households' perceptions are less pessimistic. Furthermore, poorer households tend to have more negative perceptions. This makes me wonder—given their different consumption baskets—are those perceptions actually that wrong?
