I’m also spending a lot more time thinking about materiality and #literacies in this moment and what it means as digital spaces become, potentially, more hostile, even more open to surveillance, and less safe for organizing.
I’ve been really shaped by New literacies and also notions of affinity spaces particularly (most recently) interpretive communities and how these literacies move across digital spaces. I’ve been thinking about the sponsorship roles that influence our understandings as well
Dialogic instruction views literacies as co-constructed through dialogue, fostering critical thinking and collective meaning-making. Fugitive pedagogy frames literacies as acts of resistance and cultural survival, challenging dominant narratives.
A2: Some #literacies orientations I align with are queer theories and, more broadly, theories that center criticality. Would love some reading buddies! Both are especially important in our sociopolitical landscape.
A2: I like Knobel & Lankshear for “old school” new #literacies (oxymoron?) and @amystorn.bsky.social @anna-phd.bsky.social & Phillips for newer transliteracies frameworks. Intrigued by @philnichols.bsky.social & LeBlanc questioning the limits of literacy in media ecologies 🤔
Hearing that someone read your #literacies work is awesome enough! Knowing that has been meaningful to them and the good work they are doing in the world is, well…
Anna your work is such an inspiration for me *always*!!! @sarahejerasa.bsky.social & I are dying to build on your sponsorscapes work too, we’ll tell you when we get it through review 😂 😭
