We can't avoid the fact that for the business proposition underlying the development of generative AI, and whatever comes next, to make sense, they will be taking our jobs. Some of these people have set their sights on teachers first. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/blog...

Every time someone says they won’t try to use ai to replace teachers, you should put “yet” at the end of their sentence.

What’s the best teacher move you made this week? Instead of grading the literary analyses my students submitted, I printed them out, cancelled my lecture for the day, and hosted mini writing conferences with each of them. They gave one week to submit a revised essay. #EduSky

For many years, the #writeout project was a partnership between @writingproject.bsky.social and the National Park Service, and the rangers we worked with were amazing collaborators. Consider reaching out to a National Park today to voice support for park staff as the fed admin tries to gut it. #nps

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Any recommendations, @charleswlogan.bsky.social ? I’d like to find something like this for a group I’m working with too.

Was just thinking abt Scribner & Cole’s #literacies def the other day. I used it in my diss. It felt so expansive/inclusive at the time…and I’m just not feeling it anymore. I want to revisit. How are each of the 3 constructs defined? Where’s the community? Where’s the critical/creative process?

Google and their ilk have been promoting some version of “the computer knows what you want better than you do” for a long time. “ai” is the current iteration of this.
