I just now read their other reply of "ever heard of doing those things for pleasure" & 😱 omg, it's still work though. I had horses growing up- is was a pleasure and a fuck ton of work, said work was hard but also enjoyable...but weeding isn't enjoyable, anyone who says otherwise is lying.
Okay. If you're going to be an idiot and cite a dictionary at me when we're talking about complicated subjects like this, I'm just not going to bother with you.
I think you should read some socialist literature if you don't understand what's being said, though.
I'm unfortunately not allowed to weed until I finish healing from surgery, and frankly the oxy isn't as good as the w—oh. You meant weed as a verb. Nevermind, officer, I've never done drugs in my life.
I loved having a garden, where I could step out of the house, when I was feeling overwhelmed or stuck on a problem or something. Some time alone weeding would help my mental state, a lot.
my point being that different people will different types of labor to be enjoyable, cathartic, meaningful. Without the manufactured distress of capitalism driving us to sell ourselves to bosses, we would see people naturally the work they appreciate doing, for the good of the collective.
It isn't work.
It's labor. That is the argument.
Pleasure does not mean "it is completely enjoyable" in this context. Working out is pleasurable, even though it fucking hurts.
Doing labor that is not alienated from us connects us to our Gattungswesen.
Comments

Here, "work" is used to separate alienated labor from unalienated labor. This is related to the Marxist concept of Gattungswesen.
