I do take tips and live on disability income which is smack dab on the poverty line. Also would accept a motorscooter so I can get around easier

I grew up with a cousin who is autistic and my family has puzzle piece stuff alllll over (like 8k Christmas ornaments) — I’d like to understand why what I was taught as a kid is wrong
Many Autistic people dislike them because they push for a 'cure'. Autism Speaks also has a disturbing tendency to ignore actual Autistic people trying to share their experiences and stories.
They don't allow them to speak, they speak over them.

Makes perfect sense, and I think I have an inkling of understanding now as I’m disabled and there’s a lot of speaking for disabled people and viewing us as a monolith that goes on.
