Wrote this list of movies I've either never seen or wanted to revisit. Polar Express was a hadn't seen. 1st musical number in, I was more annoyed than entertained. It had a "Be Our Guest" energy + a bad trip.
Somehow, it has woven itself into the fabric of our yearly Christmas traditions. One day, we were happy, and then the next day, I was on the train to creeptown. I looked back, but it didn't help. I'm trapped now. Please send help.
Polar Express is what finally helped Young Me understand the difference between artificial Marketing-Driven hype and organic Public-Reviewed hype.
Before that point I was like "How can you say [movie] is bad? There was a promotional toy in my Happy Meal. McDonalds wouldn't do that for a BAD movie!"
Ok I half-watched it with my toddler for the first time today and I absolutely thought I was seeing a tear-induced hallucination or something (Billy’s storyline got me). Good to know that was real 😅
A Christmas Carol grossed worldwide total of $325.3 million.[3] Due to its high production and marketing costs, the film lost the studio an estimated $50–100 million, and forced Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group and the head of worldwide marketing, to resign.
I was actually working as a theater usher when it was in theaters, and all the ushers joked about how terrifying the train servers were. We called them the Hot Chocolate Zombies.
