To be clear, the concentration camps in World War II were not widely known or acknowledged. The Allies discovered and liberated them after the war. Camps are being erected in America and Cuba as we speak.

I visited Belsen concentration camp 20+ yrs ago , liberated by the British , the British army hung all the SS soldiers & then went to the local people who claimed they didn’t know anything but had lamps made of human skin in their houses . They knew .
They will definitely try to hide it. Trump himself said that the visual of a little child being removed by ICE would be damaging to the project, so they'll try to hide the thousands of people living in camps.
Journalists and Dem politicians better be ready to fight for access to these camps.
Yup... It's so disheartening to see and hear about the cruelty that some of our fellow citizens are rooting for. Do we not have enough "naturally" occurring suffering in the world already? Is this what life was like in the time "just" before the Civil War or WW2-specifically in Poland and Germany?
When biden was in charge and using the federal government against the American people, yes it was similiar to 1930's Germany. Just look at all the protests at colleges in support of hamas (and against Jewish people). Those on the left are just like the natsees.
I no longer have a relationship with my Brother and Sister-in-law after 11/6. As they voted for a person who seeks to make it unsafe for my partner to live in the body they are most comfortable in. 😥😡
I'm so ashamed, I want to weep. I'm a descendant of slaves and I was raised in the Jim Crow South and taught to fear whites. And for years, I thought the fear had subsided. And now here it is AGAIN. It's come back with a vengeance.
I’m not sure what you mean? 80 years ago, during the war, common people didn’t have access to independent newspapers. And liberating the people in camps could only happen after winning the war because of the location of the camps. Don’t compare that situation with the current situation!
I believe the point isn't to compare but to measure in a way to prevent. Germany didn't start with jews. They started with communists & kept adding different walks of life. We are trying to prevent by paying attention to the past so we don't repeat it.
Trump is the worst that could happen to the US, the planet and the environment. He is capable of causing severe damage to all of us. Nobody can prevent that because a majority of the citizens of the US vote…..
I agree and have been struggling with the sentiment for months. My only hope (that grows dimmer by the week) is that if we keep pointing things out and make connections to past tragedies, people will wake up.
On this topic, I highly recommend reading "They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-1945" by Milton Mayer (1955). Mayer, a Jewish-American journalist and sociologist, goes on-the-ground with average German citizens both before the war and in the denazification aftermath in a sobering read.
He watched ruZZia build hundreds of filtration camps & get away with it while the 🌎 looked away so Tsar trump 2.0 is following in his masters footsteps.

Not sure what you mean by "not widely known or acknowledged". They were aware people were getting shipped off to camps; some bought into propaganda of a type of "separate but better" lie... That they were going off to live in the lap of luxury compared to post-war Germany... At least for a time.
Not sure you point, the allies in WW2 didn't seem to make exposing the Holocaust as their top priority, and the Nazis back then tried to hide much of their genocide.
But that really means nothing about what is happening today in the US.
Don't be so quick to accept the ruse. FEMA trailers have been deployed at various isolated areas across the country in areas not affected by fires or floods. For what 🤷 Order FEMA to place them...cancel FEMA...pass along to Homeland.
Missouri and Mississippi trying to make illegal immigration punishable by life imprisonment certainly moves in that direction as well. Both states currently use convicts for "prisoner leasing" to businesses.
There was however a little known invention called the radio. The free press had also been running since the middle ages. No television does not mean a lack of widespread broadcast news.
That doesn’t really hold up when you look at contemporary sources. They didn’t know the scale or scope, but they knew about them. Viktor Lazlow was explicitly trying to avoid them in Casablanca.
The Allied leadership was fully aware of the existence of concentration camps during the war. The Polish Underground sent couriers, such as Jan Karski, to the UK and the US to report on the situation. The Allies decided that winning the war was the best way to stop it. They didn't win in time.
Forced labor camps for addicts and people on antidepressant medications. Forced to grow organic food because food is the source of all of their problems. This comes from RFK, the new head of Health and Human Services!
In the 80's we had concentration camps in the everglades where we illegally and unconstitutionally interred refugees from Cuba and Haiti. We afforded them barely any of the necessities of human decency. Shoved men women and children all into crowded tents together, no showers, barely any toilets
I was just a teenager but I lived close to one of the camps and use to come bring things to them toilet paper, bottled water, candy and pass it through the fence. It was criminal as fuck.
WWII, close to a quarter million(?) Japanese Americans interred at roughly a dozen camps spread across America, for years. Both of my partner's parents along with their entire families amongst them. Drafty wooden barracks, barbed wire, no decent heat source, no running water...
despite studying both world wars at school multiple times, i’m ashamed to say i only learned about the detention camps the US government built - and forcibly removed japanese americans to - during world war ii fairly recently. appalling stuff.
I'm pretty certain that tidbit wasn't in my high school history book.
My deceased mother-in-law was housed in a horseracing stable outside of Los Angeles for 6 months, after burning her families possessions and prior to being relocated to a wasteland in the middle of Arkansas for 3 years.
it certainly wasn’t in mine, but i am british so perhaps it never would’ve been. that being said, neither did i learn that we also interred italian, austrian & german migrants in camps across the UK & often deported them. i understand it from a potential espionage angle, but it screams xenophobia.
Concentration camps were in existence from 1933 Mainly for political opponents (communists) then criminals, homosexuals and later Jews. They weren’t set up as death camps.
I felt that same way in 2016 when friends supported Trump. They were telling me so much about themselves. Sadly we never reconnected. Some of them still support him while others saw the truth. He’s cruel and he harms people.
This was reflected on at the end of Band of Brothers, and prior to watching that I had no idea. I was always under the impression that concentration camps inspired others to fight in the war. Amazing what we still learn this far after events, if we pay attention.

It mentions extermination of Jews, and camps, and international knowledge.

Britain also invented ‘divide and rule’ pit a neighbour against each other. Started in Ireland and used to effect in India from 1857.
