My favourite is "Is this Canadian". I fi d it the easiest to use. It'll usually give an above 90% accuracy answer. If it doesn't try the other side of the product.
There are issues with some of these apps - please try them on products in your home before shopping - apparently one asks for $ to be listed as Canadian
Curious to hear other opinions of all of these. I have Shop Canadian (prefer this one) and Maple Scan on my phone but wondering if others are preferable
Just went to shop canadian to see if my product was listed. Read bar code, which is registered with gs1 international with an address in Belmont, Ont, and it said wasn't sure. It then asked for $$ to be listed. 🤷♀️.
Hmm not good! I used the Maple scan around the house and it did not perform well. Told me the Barilla pasta was made in Italy when it says right on the label Made in USA. Btw I’m not buying it anymore!
Just received an email from Buy Canada, and the directory is free for biz registration, with sponsorships costing a bit. But, I guess we need to register. Could be why other brands aren't showing up as well, if they haven't registered with them. It's all pretty new...
Same bottle. Different assessments for each side. French's is an American company, but the ketchup is made in London On. I have found a few other products that it misidentifies the company. I'd be interested in an app that performs better.
