Guess what people? It is HARMFUL to exaggerate people’s risk of disease. This causes needless fear and panic. I heard from parents all summer in 2022 who were scared about sending this kids to daycare and school.

Yes.

We should have learned that with COVID. Just tell people the truth, and be honest when what you thought was true turns out to have been wrong. Otherwise when the truth inevitably comes out, you lose trust.

I'm still paying the price for this (with new parents refusing vaccines).

Did CDC respond or accept GAO findings, do you know? They are pretty mum as H5N1 is emerging! making a public statement about what we know about the virus, similarities to other variants and details on monitoring and meetings with health authorities and hospitals would is a start.
