One of the big reasons why people should join a trade union.
In addition, when taking out home and car insurance, make sure you have good legal cover.
You never know when you're going to need it.
I also believe that law / civics should be a major part of school curriculum.

Everyone must have due representation before the courts, and not for funds. If the rich want some supergun they pay, but everyone - including them- must be afforded a defence lawyer. If presumed innocent then that's that. State wants to question people we all presume innocent, they'll fund that...

Is this the inevitable result of a state funded criminal law system, i.e. legal aid, where farmers don't want to pay IHT, employers don't want to pay N.I., pensioners want the triple lock but don't want to lose their heating allowance,etc.?

A friend of mine had a legal client owed hundreds of thousands by a company.
They offered a fraction as an out of court settlement, knowing full well that his health was failing, and they could just throw money at delays as he ran out of time.
