Its a reporting requirement and not much more and not debated. What started (1883) as a way to fund a political party platform turned into a way to get money + give a perk to a donor & keep the £ doors open. P/parties lost their way & platforms now look like Swiss cheese (loopholes)!

I live in Scotland and have voted for the SNP since I could vote, 1972 I think it was. I sometimes are extremely disappointed with their policies but on the whole they are not as bad as the others. Plus in Holyrood the control is better. Does that answer you.
