Very likely to be correct, within an order of magnitude. This finding does set up interesting questions regarding mechanical factors in bacteria that permit them to get through the grinder intact and to proceed to colonize the gut

Great question! We don’t know. It might also be that commensals and pathogens have different mechanical properties. Or, both!
