I’m all for shutting it down, but my spouse mentioned it may be an excuse to impose national martial law. think about who’s been fired (JAG’s, admirals etc) & hollowed out support staff, & DOGE having access to every federal office with no witnesses, a shut down might be a trigger for something bad

He’s too stupid to make a good plan, but that doesn’t mean someone else isn’t giving him the plan. He’s also said snippets out loud, the quiet part that he’s probably not supposed to say, but there’s so much going on it’s hard to notice.

1 break the support system. Fire as many employees with access to any information as possible to reduce leaks & cow whoever’s left.
2. Immobilize citizens. No staff stops Social Security payments, healthcare, tax refunds, & consumer protection. people will struggle just to get food & gas.

4. Shutdown means empty offices. DOGE walks in unimpeded because you know they’re working during a shutdown. Now they just do what they want without making some pretense.

5 if martial law is imposed during a shutdown, the press’s government contacts are at home with no access to Info. Think of it as the witness reduction act.
6. Khalil = test run. If they “arrest” people during a shutdown, there’s no leaks, no court actions, no guardrails, no one ensuring protocol

Trump already lined up an excuse for declaring martial law. One of his first EO’s declared a national emergency at the southern border and gave Hegseth & Noem 90 days to 👍/👎 invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807. This will spur civil unrest, which he could then use the military to quash. Instant ML!

I think it’s a mistake to label Trump “stupid”. He is irrational, hostile, temperamental, deceitful, vengeful and conniving. But, he is cunning, and usually gets exactly what he wants. Dismissing him as stupid and unserious helped get him elected the first time.
