What children learn before realizing the value of skepticism tends to stick. “Global warming leads to ice age” was etched into my 70’s kid brain. Since the article says studies of the time were 44 warming & 7 cooling, it seems my school taught the majority opinion, but gave a nod to the minority.

As a 70’s elementary student, I learned about global warming, not cooling. I recall a kid asking if Earth would get as got as the sun. Teacher said no, but after it got as hot as it could go, it would be like a rubber band and snap the planet into an ice age. I never stopped believing that.

I know the US has no NATO obligations to Ukraine (since we’ve blocked them from joining), but if we can’t be trusted to uphold our side of a nonproliferation/protection pact, that was and is in our best interest, we certainly can’t be trusted to honor NATO obligations.

Sadly, yes. Also, I think sanctions against the USA might be appropriate. Reneging on a protection pledge (made in exchange for eliminating a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons), while siding with a brutal invader demonstrates that our government cannot be trusted to uphold our NATO obligations.
