Like I both loathe this song and am singing along to this song bc I can't stop myself bc it was implanted in my subconscious like a fcking alien device.
We Are the World, Tomorrow and Greatest Love of All are all in the same category. WE HAD TO MEMORIZE THEM and sang them at graduations and programmes...so much singing
Family road trip. No cassette deck in the whip. Only the radio. Flipped stations the whole way. Every third song was We Are The World. On every station. I think all of 1985 was like that.
π€ I mean I can listen to the whole song in in all its glory today & enjoy it. But if I had to hear it again 2 or 3 times again tomorrow there might b fisticuffs. So...yeah I think ur right!
Because we needed a break and keep in mind many of artists involved, I actually liked or enjoyed their music. It's bad when the beginning of the song starts and in your spirit you say 'Not again!'
It was so overplayed at the time that it became repulsive. It just oozed insincerity and ignorance. If I never hear the song again, I'll be OK with it.
I didnβt like this song when it was out. Especially knowing, even then, the manipulation going on to try to get Prince there. Also, I was a Do They Know Itβs Christmas girlie.
We were watching and my girl was like, βthey arenβt really gonna sing it, are they?β Then, when they started, her sigh of disgust was so epic π€£
Im gen X & I donβt agree either. That song gets me every time. & judging by some of these profile pics of comments I donβt think they are even Gen X.
I heard that song so many times on MTV in high school, I will NEVER willingly listen to it again. And I was Team Prince, not Team MJ, so whatever. π€£
