Time for one more before I go out this morning. #Nowplaying: The Doors: L.A. Woman: 1971. The sixth studio album, two months later Jim would be dead. They left a great legacy of music, a tremendous influence on rock 'n' roll

To me, L.A. Woman marked a change for the band. A more pared back sound - some space in the music. Compelling stuff, that tantalisingly left us wondering, at the start of the 70's, what might have been.
Aside from being overall their strongest musically since the debut, this cover always sticks out for me, for the fact Morrison intentionally appears shorter on it than he was, to convey the impression that he wasn’t overshadowing his band mates.
