I have never had more agreement on something I've writeen than the agreement I've gotten today with my assertion that Samsung refrigerators suck and the ice makers never work.

When we bought our house, we inherited all fairly new Samsung appliances in our kitchen. Within three years, we had to replace three of the four (microwave was still ok). Will never buy any of their appliances.
Yeah, the ice maker on our Samsung also broke. And lately it occasionally makes a BING-BONG! chiming sound for no apparent reason. The doors seem to be closed, the temperature seems fine. If anyone has an idea of what to do, I'd love to hear it.
Putting a frozen component in a refrigerated compartment that generates moisture is New Coke level stupid. You literally need to seal the entire thing with water proof tape inside and out to keep the added water from seeping in.
We bought a Samsung refrigerator and oven when we moved into this house. We ended up getting the $1K+ oven for free because we had a minor warranty claim that they never investigated. They just refunded the money. The problem eventually solved itself.
My Bosch makes ice but never stops making ice and the dispenser is broken. It would cost $800 to fix, so I just dump the ice into a container in the freezer.
I watch this guy and he blasts Samsung as the worst, especially the ice makers, then he came out with this video in March. Of course something else will go wrong with it. https://youtu.be/4Wc9kgGQOqY?si=E0K8ETKwYf6M7Z3b
Our stupid Samsung fridge fills the crisper drawers with water, and the shelf racks make no sense (too close together or too far apart). Just a piece of garbage.
Ugh, we knew better, but the design was so much more what we wanted than any other brand. “Take a chance” we figured. “Maybe we’ll get the one they put together right.”
We replaced the ice maker every year of the warranty, and now have to dump the ice into a bin every day.

Me and two other family members have Samsung with ice makers nearly 20 years, great fridge/feeezer. But their washing machines are a disaster! On second and need to replace after just over 2 years. Never buying Samsung again.
I worked for an HVAC company that also did appliance and plumbing repairs. I started in the purchasing dept purchasing appliance parts; Samsung parts were never in stock. That job taught me to never ever buy any samsung appliance.
Talked to a customer who ran an appliance service business who hipped me to a simple icemaker fix; I'll never fear a fridge again--but still won't buy a Samsung
Wasn't brand specific afaik (I have a Maytag)
Sluice the evaporation tube with lukewarm water applied with a turkey baster or suchlike -water freezes inside due to location of that tube.
Hope this helps some other poor soul that has one of their shitty fridges: they have a hidden “super defrost” setting so you don’t need to use a hair dryer or whatever. Here’s a video on how it works for my model of fridge: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xUh9Xw2-4f4
I didn't even know Samsung made refrigerators until I got a call from a resident who had one for a little more than 6 months and the filter in the water dispenser kept plugging up every couple weeks. The Samsung people blamed the water (it's not the water, no one with other brands has this problem).
We had a whirlpool with a terrible ice maker and when it finally succumbed we got an LG and the glory of the overflowing ice. In, big solid cubes . . . hard to express w/o working blue
The freezer handle broke off our Samsung and it literally cannot be repaired. It's screwed on before the inner panel is installed by the manufacturer. Super glued it and sold the house.
My Samsung fridge ice maker sucked but I found they had released an upgrade/fix kit. Installed that and it works perfectly. Not a difficult project thanks to YouTube.
Had 1 a few years back. Terrible. The ice maker hardly ever worked. Also they leak a lot. The guy who fixed it for us told us that. Happened again and we just went out and got a new LG
I never had a refrigerator with a ice maker. When I moved into my house 30 years ago there was no water line to the fridge. When I replaced the fridge 10 years ago, I wasn't going to put one in so I just bought one without an ice maker. I just use my ice trays. It all works great.

My husband spent at least an hour every 2 months with a dryer defrosting the ice maker
Never again @sumsung.bsky.social never again
