I have never said rural folks should get special treatment or should be coddled. I don’t coddle anyone — just ask my kids.
I am asking my party and my Democratic colleagues to remember rural people not just because it is fair, but because it is politically wise. https://open.substack.com/pub/jesspiper/p/dont-bite-the-hand-that-feeds-you?utm_source=app-post-stats-page

They need to show they can be helped bc so far they've accepted —demanded, actually — our help and then slapped us in the face every time.

I totally agree in equal rights; however, we lose rural, bible-belt, and others by focusing on specific rights.
What's common to all Americans? Inflation, food, housing, health care, security, and equality (in no particular order).
Thoughts?
It would help a LOT if we could separate money from elections, and help rural see that the ones taking money but returning nothing are the gop, not poor city folks
When they talk about things they don’t want, most of it is things they never really interact with.
They get all mad at a Tx athlete but there are less than 5 in the whole county.
We move forward with either complete revision of the policy/process/philosophy of the party
or we break it
If rurals have their fee fees hurt about not being heard (which, they ARE) I suggest they start voting like we do.
THEIR HANDS DON'T FEED US DEMS. Literally, or otherwise.
Most farmers are Reds. 🖖🏾

Instead of supporting those like AOC, Crockett, Bernie, and Frost who WIN IN LANDSLIDES (Crockett and Frost in Red States.) and had a message that resonated, they support the donor mouthpieces who squeak by or lost
Hopefully Ben Winkler gets DNC chair based on what he has done in Wisconsin.

The bad people encourage the division. In every aspect of life they can think of.
Start fires everywhere and we are too busy putting them out to witness the robbery.
They repeatedly surrender purple states to the far right; they push fantasies of ending the Electoral College; they do it all just to be able to pretend rural voters don't matter.
For instance, the “outsider.” Never mind you might live there now, but if you weren’t born there and related to half the county…you’re an outsider. They see democrats as outsiders no matter what.
It’s funny b/c so many of these rural communities have a proud history of immigration from somewhere—German, Polish immigrants. Just look at everyone’s last names.
In fact, I ran b/c as a mom i was pissed at the state of our playgrounds. Ain’t even a rural area here.
#2: their infighting is mind boggling, they can’t agree on one damn thing.
They deserve to lose.
It’s like pissing on mechanics in SILO, they keep you alive!
Took me a while to find Bluesky.
Mind if I refollow you?
What changed?
It’s simply the math here :(.
I would rather walk around a red rural town than a blue city. The reason, I am far safer in a red rural area. I have lived in both and worked in both and crime stats back me up.
Thank you for such illuminating writing!❤️
