I once asked my husband if he’s ever afraid when he is alone.
He laughed out loud.
“Of what? Why would I be scared?”
I tend to be an overthinker, but I can’t tell you how many times I have wondered about his statement of fact. He has nothing to be scared of…

When I told my boss a broker kissed me, my boss asked what I had done to provoke it.
I told my boss I didn't try to seduce married men my dad's age.
And we all need to be and keep the men around us awake, despite the honeyed tongues trying to lull them back to Eepy blindness.
That is the primary issue of living alone

in the 70s.
They insisted to adopt that habit.
It is even more crucial today and the locks are electric.
one thing only.
Fear leaves the house rarely and only to tell the birds
how to sing.
I live in a deep blue state and I won't go hiking or biking alone. I'm always suspect of lone men I encounter ANYWHERE, even in public places. I'm 68 and have been sexually assaulted 5 times, starting when I was 3-4 years old, and raped twice.

Men offload the thinking, acting, and planning women and act is if men have no agency so they can blame women.
Never had to have that conversation with my son.
Chock full of people who either:
A) Explicitly supported the 2014 Ferguson shooting
B) Happily looked the other way

I've been a victim many times over since age 4. Hyper vigilance is my only mode. I consider it a strength, as I notice what most don't.
We arrived very late, the platform was mostly deserted and dark near the end.
I immediately started walking double quick towards the station.
My husband stopped on the dark and lonely platform to check his notifications.
Need I say more?
I reposted it with "best piece explaining privilege I've ever seen".
Very glad for you that you have "good men" in your life.
Husband: That she's unattractive or boring.
Me: What do you think women fear?
Husband: The same thing?
Me: Hahahahaha no.
My landlady asked if I was scared at night. She was VERY serious.
She said that sleeping alone exposed me to ghosts. Explained in the most factual way possible.
Fear is so very different between gender/culture/size.

I still have clueless moments. National parks prohibit dogs on trails, and I was annoyed when I encountered two women hiking with a big dog. Later, the light came on: Ooooh, right. Duh!
I wish I had a link for this anecdote.
