My friend Jenna Roberson is not on blue sky, but this is her screenshot. I’m thankful I have so many friends who comb through awful legislation every day. It’s going to take all of us. This is too much for one person.
Hi @piperformissouri.bsky.social - ok I want to jump in on this as it too sent me into the stratosphere when I first saw it- it's gonna take more than 500 characters tho so here goes - there are some aspects that neutralized some of my freak out: Thing one: this is a proposed resolution.
The less scary part: It has no force of law and is generally symbolic. A resolution typically expresses the support, disapproval or opinion of the House on a particular issue, in this case support of Pro Women’s Healthcare Centers, a consortium of anti-abortion medical centers (they ARE scary).
Biggs has been bringing up HR7 since 2018 - with no luck. It is the exact same language. If history serves as a guide, it will move from the Energy and Commerce Committee to the subcommittee on Health where it will likely not move out of committee. Energy and Commerce oversee Public Health.
The tea leaves are getting increasingly more difficult to read but in my very non-expert opinion - this one is just Biggs signaling to his colleagues and constituents where he stands. The fact remains that what he is signaling is straight from Gilead but cloaked in - at first blush - pro-women.
But we all know different and must stay vigilant. Here is my question which then raises other questions- I can find no digital presence of them since 2018 in the form of an archived pamphlet. Their website no longer exists. Where are they? Who are they? Why are they referenced since 2018?
We must get every friend to join us on BlueSky...it is so important that we have one location that everything is shared. I understand that most are used to Threads but I refuse to support Fuskerberg! $1 million to trump and charging his format will change trump...We all know, he is going to
be stabbed in the back by the orange and he deserves it.
Bluesky and Threads are both social media platforms that are reshaping the Twitter/X model:
Decentralized vs. centralized
Bluesky is decentralized, giving users more control over
their data and content. Threads is centralized and integrated with Instagram, part of the Meta ecosystem and owned by Fuskerberg who can change the user base or limit it any way he wants. Bluesky cannot and will not take any of these actions...
Amen to that. It's how we should be organizing. Let specific groups focus on specific issues instead of the craziness of everyone trying to deal with it all which is impossible and will never amount to much of anything.
Yeah, saw the screenshot on Substack. That women’s healthcare “should also address the needs of men” sure sums up the whole right wing, “Gilead” future we are facing in ‘Murica now. What frickin century are we in?
Very much like the situation where you're not allowed to say Black lives matter without also saying White lives matter. As if that had ever been the issue the issue.
i read that to my husband and warned him before i read it that it would even piss him off. i was right , he is fuming, and going off behind me now. He even said " fuck the needs of MEN" this is a prime example of male chauvinistic pigs." he said. " at the height of stupidity".
You have cut off the most important issue. The requirement that ProWomen Consortium be the “standard” for all healthcare for women. These are pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-birth control facilities. Fucking men trying to bring women back to the kitchen bare foot and pregnant!
THIS part. They’re advocating for a pro-birth, anti-healthcare standard. The repeated use of “life-affirming care” and naming the consortium say it all.
People are too focused on the “men affirming” section that they’re completely looking over a more disastrous section. While Resolutions aren’t laws, they can pave the way for them.
It goes down hill after that (below). The Resolution goes on to talk about Pro Women's Healthcare Centers. If you look up their pamphlet online, they are really just Pro-life pregnancy crisis centers.
WTAF?!! This is the very reason I live alone! I spent most of my adult life attending to everyone else's needs. No more, never... It is not a female's role in this life to serve EVERYONE. Meanwhile, her needs are completely ignored and not considered important. No thanks!
I'm a white male, married w/ grown kids. I have no say in my wife's health care unless I see something concerning. Then unless she shares it's all between her and her providers. I have no idea what that last resolution is about and it is concerning.
"Address the needs of men" in women's medical decision making = #Femicide
Denial of radiation or hysterectomy for cancer because it affects having children. Denial of life-saving medications b/c might affect fertility. No contraceptives despite health needs. Forced pregnancy and birth.
A few yrs ago, my oncologist ordered hysterectomy, it was my best treatment option.
My insurance declined authorization, they recommended a DNC instead and to wait a year to see if it came back; the rep asked me, don’t you feel as a woman you have a responsibility to protect your reproductive
organs? I quite literally lost my mind & released a string of profanities. In the end, my husband’s insurance, as my secondary, picked up a portion when mine declined it.
I’m the mother of daughters, this is a fight I won’t back down from.
This does however make me think of trans men. Because they could still get pregnant. Either way, it’s a VERY slippery slope and the verbiage in this needs to be written clearer.
We know project 2025 people are anti trans. But if they got this passed somehow, trans men (who are men) could use these services. That right there would upset the GOP so hardcore that it would cause them to be incredibly discriminatory and then it’ll be a court issue.
Yes I know. Im not agreeing with the document. Im just looking at it from outside my own biases. If the project 25 people want this passed, and if it does, we as a community need to find the stipulations and use them against them. I don’t want this passed.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING. 😭😭
Im so upset that it hasn’t been published. It could put women in the constitution finally. Maybe he’s holding out to publish it? He mentioned it in an interview with mediastouch. So let’s keep our fingers crossed. 🤞🏻😔
Forcing women to have babies that they can turn into good little workers to pad the pockets of their lobbyist friends=commerce. That's the assumption I'm going with, since it's the most plausible. However they're Republicans so it probably wasn't meant to make sense since they rarely do.
Just another brick in the house they are trying to build. They are going to do everything they can to get women back to property status.
It's going to come down to violence to end their ambition.
Can someone translate this insane sentence for me? Is this an anti-abortion statement? Like my brain can’t even make sense of how the needs of men or community need to be considered in women’s healthcare
That's it in a nutshell, yes. It's putting the desires others have for your body, in any gross or benign sense you want to interpret that, over your own needs.
and this is being referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce whyyyyyy??? Do I even want to ask what other lovely suggestions are in this HR? Ugh!
With a growing social push towards incel culture, I wonder what “needs” some congressmen would claim are going unheard and unfulfilled by women, and what facets of women’s healthcare should be, perhaps, “addressed” to meet these needs.
Sigh here we gooo. Thanks for posting. Everyone can sign up for Gov track, daily emails of all legislation introduced and status. Can be filtered to areas of interest ie women’s rights.
I'm so confused by that last part....what the fuck does all that mean? They need to lay out the explicits & specifics.
They can miss us all with this vague ass shit!
This one isn't working alone. They've also got HR 78 lined up to add abortion to the federal penal code. They're trying to trap all American women in the same penal code.
It relates when a woman wants an abortion but, the father, her family, or the community doesn't want her to, she has no say. That is the only way I can interpret it.
The resolution was a promotion of Pro-Women’s Healthcare Centers. “PWHC is like a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for the pro-life medical community.”
Andy Biggs’s nonsense doesn’t surprise me. I don’t expect it to go anywhere because he’s in the Men Approving Goat Affection Caucus and their bills rarely have support. Still, it’s good to pay attention to how batshit insane he is.
Or recognizing that some men have gynecological issues? Or that a man's partner dying from an ectopic pregnancy will scar him for life? Yeah, I'm pretty sure they don't give a shit.
I don't think my wife's doctor would ever give two shits about my medical needs when providing her with care, and if they did, that would be a yuuuuge red flag right there.
This is bull💩!! Where’s the resolution “Whereas health care for men’s testicles should also address the needs of women”?
Women’s health has ZERO to do with a man’s needs. 🤬🤬
F it. I’m going to play Rage today, too. F them I won’t do what they tell me.
We need Congress to acknowledge the 38 states who have ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. In fact, I would argue that any member of Congress who fights, votes, filibuster, etc, against the 28th Amendment is in violation of their oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.
This entire resolution is bullshit. Not just the sneaky part about men’s “needs”. Why are WOMEN being “herded” out from the MEN? Replace the word woman with man and see how disgusting this entire screed is.
It gets worse, if you read more of H.Res 7 it also raves about Pro Women's Healthcare Centers, they recommend medication abortion reversal. Which is obviously not based in proven, verifiable science.
I propose a public buyout of US healthcare system. Surely a large portion of the United states can agree that healthcare is a human right. I have a 5 year strategically phased buyout plan. Sort of a hostile take-back of healthcare. Corporate Raider style. They will rue the day
A resolution for men's healthcare would be appropriate if they're worried about men's healthcare so much. Keep men out of any say about women's healthcare needs entirely. It's unnecessary.
Biggs is an idiot. Always has been, always will be. He made his pregnant daughter live in a shed (in Arizona) after he won 10 million dollars, because he didn't like the father. His constituents won't let him forget it.

I assume that's only for WW, of course. 14 words and all.
Revolting.
Community needs more workers, make more babies?
White women only, of course.
This is a way to make it look like holistic care for women, so men can have control over women’s bodies.
THERE ARE NO BILLS OR LAWS THAT REGULATE MEN’S BODIES!!
I’ll be raging right along with you.

holy shit I'm angry for you. you have a responsibility for your health, whatever that looks like. not specific organs.
It's revolting.
Women are not property.

And I'm a man saying this.

No wonder women in the 50s were alcoholics.
Too bad because I have some strong opinions on the matter.
I don't think my wife's doctor would ever give two shits about my medical needs when providing her with care, and if they did, that would be a yuuuuge red flag right there.
I have a whole list of things it’s definitely not but I’d like them to outline what they’re doing for women to make it better for men.
This timeline is so stupid.
Castrate all rapists ‼️ (regardless of their political aspirations).
May need new speakers by Valentine’s Day.
Women’s health has ZERO to do with a man’s needs. 🤬🤬
F it. I’m going to play Rage today, too. F them I won’t do what they tell me.
...but let's also consider the needs of the rapist...
We want to unite all of the groups fighting bans to fight for a single amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Let’s strip power to enact bans from ALL politicians for ALL time.
Please read our petition to #JohnFetteman and comment!
Let’s get this rolling!
So: women are livestock.
and men aren't.
