Part of it is the the way world brought in new people, Capcom has a proven track record over the last few years with banger after banger coming out, and the rise in popularity of “hard” games because of souls titles is bringing in a pretty diverse crowd.

Monster Hunter Wilds is 5 all time peak on Steam db and if you skip the beta the next one is World at 36 with 300,000 players. It’s such a big jump!

It’s been steadily gaining popularity for awhile now. The only reason their last game (rise) didn’t get the same treatment was because it was an exclusive first.

Yeah, worlds was the same way. It didn’t get released on PC until months later, so a lot of people probably played it on console first and didn’t feel like re-buying/re-proging stuff they had already done. With that, cross platform and the popularity increase, it’s probably the perfect storm atm heh

For sure. I’ve mostly been a casual MH fan at best, but despite some of the technical issues, this one has its hooks in me lol. Ironically came out around the same time as some other things I play dropped updates, so I’m juggling what I can atm heh. A good problem to have though in the grand scheme.

I think some of it does have to do with this being the first new MonHun game to have a simultaneous release worldwide platform wide. Monster Hunter World released on PC 7 months after the console version so anyone who REALLY wanted to play it, already owned it with how big MonHun is

I think a big part has to do with how well Capcom has been firing on all cylinders. All of their games in general are getting a lot of attention and there are a lot of influencers talking about them.

Granted, I also think MH: Worlds and Rise really brought in new fans.

I'm excited mostly because I'm hoping for more older Capcom IPs to be brought back. But it's cool to see Monster Hunter get so much love and attention. It was fairly niche with its earlier games.
