GRRM on 'The Winds of Winter'
“I have to get back. I have to finish the books. That's the one thing I'm completely in control of. There's no budget limitations ... no [studio] execs that I have to please ... And, I think the one I'm writing is coming pretty well, but I wish it would come faster”

I've read all the books up to "dance of dragons" which I've been halfway through for a bit.. I don't want to finish until I know the next book is ready lol
The only saving grace was Arya's character arc in season 8.. If only they'd done a show with her exploring west of Westeros 👀
The 5th book in the Song of Ice & Fire series, A Dance of Dragons, released the same year the HBO TV series started, 2011
It's 2025, the TV series ended in 2019 and he still hasn't finished the next book!
..Stephen King has written & published 19 books and 40 short stories since 2011
(Side note: I'm pretty sure that this is the interview that made me realize GRRM sees writing as a hobby and not a job)
We’ve been married almost 10 years now.
I mean, I think it's pretty universally accepted that GRRM is going to pass before he finishes the series. The Winds of Winter isn't even supposed to be the final ASOIF book. There's no way he can make it that long.
There was also a big gap between Feast and Dance, let him cook.
Otherwise he passes away, and we never get the final book. =(
Nobody likes unfinished epics.
Just ask Exiles by Melanie Rawn.
RIP Captal's Tower.
(No fault of hers, still sucks though)
Wouldn't it be crazy if worked on this book I'm writing lmao
