It was a weird phase on social media where you had to make a performative Nickelback is terrible post. I have thought they are just standard commercial hard rock. Love the Deadpoolrant about this.

There was a period when that kind of sound was *everywhere* all the time, and Nickleback was the most well known example of that sound so they took all the blame for it

As a former Canadian, Nickelback is no better or worse than any second tier rock band, and they have been remarkably consistent over the years. Half their albums are usually forgettable but they also have some very powerful tracks. “Far Away” captured the life of deployed family members perfectly.
