a little disappointed he didn't name the transition team members even though their names has been known for a while, plus isaacman's refusal to recognize biden admin's legitimacy.
" Nelson said that although he called and congratulated Isaacman on the day Trump announced his nomination, he has yet to speak again with him and no transition team has been put together. " - Still would be a good idea to reach out and talk to the guy there now so that a transition can occur.
A 🧵1) Moving NASA HQ away from DC? Stupid. You want to stay close to where your fate is being decided.
2) Cancelling SLS/Orion? Stupid. You lose your only working ride to the Moon, others are still in R&D and your planning architecture is pretty much shot. You've set Artemis back years. 1/
3) We're not getting humans to Mars by 2028. Period. At this rate due to the progress on the Human Landing System, we'll be lucky to get to the Moon by 2028. As for Mars, we still have to figure out how to keep humans happy in a tin can very far from Earth for a prolonged period time. 2/
So putting humans on Mars by 2028 is a pipedream.
4) Consolidating two NASA centers in one place? Stupid. NASA Ames has wind tunnels that you can't find anywhere else and work at Goddard ( They work with many astrophysics programs like HST & JWST ) would severely disrupted. 3/
There would also be a loss of brain trust. Not everyone will want to move their life and families from California and Maryland ( two mainly Democratic stronghold states) to Alabama ( a Republican Stronghold state, which is most likely why a move is being pondered in the first place.) 4/
5) As for attempting to make Artemis more efficient, don't you think NASA is already looking for ways to be more efficient? Assembly's get better and faster as you go along and do things more. The same with other aspects. You just get better at things with repetition, find better ways to work. 5/
