yeah, there's a weird way in which the democrats represent the "don't worry, just give us your money and the government will take care of you" party to many folks, and Trump was really able to capitalize on this..
Yeah, exactly. Democrats _are_ out of touch in many ways. Republicans are good at tapping into things in a way that makes them (Republicans) seem in touch.
+1. I think a big part of it may just be general anger about the status quo. Democrats often seem afraid to be angry, and Trump's "burn it all down" tone may seem preferable, even when there isn't an articulable policy stance
