The Houthis seem completely undeterred by three straight days of bombardment and have fulfilled their promise of resuming rocket launches at Israel now that Israel has broken the ceasefire

I think this really should put to rest the idea that the Houthis weren't serious about their proposal to stop firing when Gaza goes quiet. Gaza was relatively quiet for a bit and the Houthis didn't fire at Israel, now it is not and they have resumed.
this really should inform how people in policy making positions interact with them going forward but i think the delusional euphoria of the Hezbollah case will instead be what guides the thinking
tbf nobody in DC in particular but also the west in general really wants to adjust their priors on the houthis/broader yemeni civil war because randomly throwing PGMs in their general direction while also working on keeping as much of a truce as possible is sadly among the least bloody options
like you have the people who think they can just do something comparable to lebanon, but that would involve doing an Operation Yemeni Freedom nobody actually wants to do and any other resolution to the civil war is going to consist of starvation sieges currently prevented by UN and western envoys
Yeah, in retrospect I was underestimating how much the Houthis were sincere in their support of Gaza.
I used to think their declarations were a mixture of propaganda to gullible Westerners plus the Houthis using the cause for their own goals, but they kept their promise.
Yemen said they would resume blockade last week after Israel said they were going to cut off electricity food and water again. US bombing started day after

No wonder the US has problems with them
