Here’s what is going on. When you start firing the military’s top lawyers, that means you are getting ready to order the military to do unlawful things. Trump replaces those JAGs with men who will justify any future unlawful and unethical actions that he wants the military to do.

"No, you see, the vigilante violence ~I~ support is fine bc I'm right! The vigilante violence those guys support is wrong bc theyre wrong. Justifications for violence can of course be objectively and externally measured, rather than being internal & subjective things. Duh."

What Biden accomplished, given his margins, is nothing short of masterful.

Would reply but I can't People were posting about Israel hiding bombs in the cell phones of activists in 2024. Understated how paranoid people are getting

I mean the problem is that Democrats are like “we did talk about the threat of fascism” and voters were like “but my eggs”

What's the difference between firing someone "for DEI" and firing them because they are Black?

People who think the IRS won't come after them because of the DOGE cuts misunderstand the role of tax admin in authoritarian regimes. It's not only (or even mostly) about an efficient collection of revenue. It's a weapon against the opposition. This is not going to be affected by the cuts.

i am once again saying that defining discrimination as noting any distinction between groups guts the concept, and it is a longterm FedSoc project to define down discrimination until it's a useless concept.

Just to back up for a minute. If a democratic admin was saying we want to draw down DoD by 40 percent over 5 years and get a trilateral agreement with China and Russia to cut military spending and de-nuclearize.... can you imagine the screaming from Fox news??

It's cool and great (no it's actually horrifying) seeing people develop the logic behind Stalinist purges or Cultural Revolution for themselves in real time.

Yeah sorry targeting Russian Forces drone operators like this is fine and good. if you're using indirect fires or this don't make much difference except less collateral damage.

I do find it incredibly tedious how "Trans woman engages with radical feminist text critically and brings her own perspective to address the flaws and see what useful ideas are contained in them" is framed as some sort of self-irradiation with TERF Particles and not like. Basic intellectual rigor.

My thoughts on last nights firings

Trump is not a "Russian asset" in any formal sense. He was never recruited or "bought." He simply sees in Putin a kindred spirit, and the people around him see in Putin's oligarchical, conservative, repressive Russia a model to inspire their own project of remaking the United States.

This is a big reason I was worried about the "punching a Nazi is good, actually", since it's very easy to start expanding the definition of Nazism/include other groups in it, and then you have lots of people wanting political violence.

To be honest though, I feel like the civic ideals that the US represent is unmaintainable long-term unless a miracle happens, since the moderate non-online politics people vote on vibes, and can't care for politics, and it's defense is fundamentally dependent on strongly ideological liberals.

It hasn’t even accomplished anything. Even by the goals of the people cheering this it’s a total waste.

People love finding excuses to celebrate socially transgressive violence, the political analysis is mostly post facto justification.

I really, truly hate to get myself involved in any kind of conflict online. but apparently it's not up to me - because the fact that I even mentioned Isabel Fall as an influence on my writing is being used as a pretense to FALSELY relitigate the whole thing and sling dirt at other writers

Calling a healthcare company denying coverage "murder" is running really, really fast down a road nobody wants to walk to its conclusion. The conclusion, BTW, is "So long as you can build a network of causal linkages between your act or inaction and someone's death you are a murderer".

It's been so run through pop culture as to seem almost corny, but I need you all to understand with the deepest seriousness available to you that the "First they came for..." thing was to prepare you for this exact moment

Truly the most 'there is actually zero difference and bad things you imbecile, you fucking moron' tweet to ever get a million views

I wrote angry about the purging of the US military. saideman.blogspot.com/2025/02/why-...

I really gotta reiterate that Mangione is a rich white tech guy who most likely has serious mental health issues and gun murdered a stranger in cold blood for opaque reasons, I would maybe pump the brakes a bit on this stuff

Forcing them to live in fear of their constituents is something you can weaponize, actually
