I know for a fact you can land a lot better in Star Citizen because I've done it before, but I'm pretty out of practice and can't be bothered to rebind everything. This looks just fine to me. You can intentionally do decoupled landings to make it look better but it's generally pointless.

New flight model is thankfully being worked on.

We do need a landing hologram..

they had a good foundation with hover mode however many years ago, but since it required just the tiniest amount of attention from players they scrapped it.. you can still hover however you like now, doesn't matter if sideways or nose down. big mistake imo

Yeah in doing research I found out that for a brief time Star Citizen had what it called hover mode. As you say, it seemed most didn't like it because it was too difficult and was a bit buggy on some edge cases. It sounded fixable to me, but I never got to try it myself.

it felt alright, a bit unstable maybe but i liked that it required some skill for smooth landings. it wasn't perfect of course but it was a good place to start from and refine it over time, which is their usual approach anyways. i was pretty disappointed to see it removed, with nothing to replace it

Yeah, it would be nice if there was some sort of holo-indicator bow the ship to let you know if the ground is level to your ship or not

Elite did that when landing planetside, but that's also completely unrelated to my main problem of how stiff landings look in Star Citizen without the player going very out of the their way to fly in such a way that it looks cooler.

It wouldn't even be that hard to implement, the same tech is used to determine if your character is on the ground or is at a slope to stand awkwardly.
