Quick question- that I'm only asking because I ended up in a debate about this the other day... do you class the Manic Street Preachers as a punk band?

Not sure Molly, but whenever they play in Glasgow I see them kicking around town. Once I was with my Mum and Dad in a small gents clothing shop getting a jacket for an interview while James Dean was getting kecks.
He was vey polite to the staff & not shopping with his parents so more punk than me.
Probably an unhelpful answer but "kind of". Definitely punk-adjacent in their earlier career, but seems more to do with a punk ethic rather than sound.
To my ears, they don’t have a punk rock sound. A rock band, yes. Although I’m not an arbiter on the more general ‘punk’ designation. That’s a bit of a minefield 😅
"you love us" has a kind of sound to it. imo they changed style and cleaned up after the disappearance of Nicky Wire. I sit on the "sort of" bit myself.

They were liked by a lot of people who grew up with punk though 😊
