Tried making a Black Hawk (rye and sloe gin) but it’s a 2/10. I don’t think I’ll ever get along with this sloe gin. Any ideas what to do with it that plays to its strengths?

Sloe gin and Prosecco is the only time I’ve been able to enjoy gin that I can recall. I live ~3 hours from all the bourbon and rye though so I’m kinda inherently biased I think? I figure if Sakura gin can’t get me I’m just doomed.
I love gin in general, but sloe gin is very sweet and kinda cloying. Never really got the hang of it but I want to find good pairings. There's a good flavor in there, just I'm not a fan of too much berry sweetness.
Maybe mixed with some Four Roses OBSO? It’s a high rye bourbon with a mash bill that leans to some berry flavors so it might accentuate that while diluting the sweetness? If you find something I’d love to hear it because I want to like gin so badly 😅
I'm thinking tonic HAS to be there for the bitterness. 2-3 drops of a basic saline solution might round it all out and cut some of the cloying sweetness. 80ml:20g hot water to salt (Maldon if you have it)

Maybe a french 75 with less sugar since the gin is sweet?
