I read that the German stock market did well for years after they transitioned to a fascist dictatorship and perhaps many expect a repeat of rising profits without rule of law— but one key difference is that Germany was not considered the safest global destination for assets prior to its autogolpe.

Also, majority of the German people was siding with Hitler. I don't think it's the same here. Some degree of civil war is a much more likely outcome here (of course not saying it will happen with certainty)

Assuming things get to that point. Do liberals and the left even own enough firearms? With the NSA surveillance and how spread out the country is I'm doubtful a civil war can happen. A collapse of productivity and a drop in consumer spending as a protest seem more likely.

I would argue a fully-fledged civil war is unlikely, but civil unrest to the point of basically blocking the economy are not out of questions. On the weapons: I wouldn't assume the entire military would comply with all of the president's orders in case of civil commotion

The markets always wait until there's some completely obvious breaking point and then panic. They were cool with covid until the day lockdowns were announced. Then kaboom.
