I watch a lot of anime isekai, shows where the protagonist is pulled into another world.
Now, being honest, most isekai are boy power fantasies.
And it's kind of shocking how creepy a lot of the popular isekai are.
I just tapped out on another show where the *protagonist* keeps getting worse.

It is huge, though mainly dominated by South Korea.
It has its own share of problems and tropes (which this Otome Isekai I recently reviewed does a good job highlighting https://bsky.app/profile/ps-a.bsky.social/post/3lc46qjvcws2k) but I really love the genre.
The genre consists mainly of web novels and web comic adaptations.
I suffer enthusiastically from worldbuilding fixation and the more important a story is to me, the harder I make the worldbuilding process on myself.
I'd love an isekai where the protagonist can't fight because they're from our time and their only advantage is the fact they were taught basic science
Though Alice in Wonderland is sort of an odd one since it's not time travel as much as dimension/world-hopping
I was under the impression that he was a genius while I'd be looking more for an average accountant (or clerk like Ash from the Evil Dead series)

My favorite subtype of the Isekai would be where the character is already strong/established/badass from the original world and is looking for other things besides powerlevel.
A good example would be the Sonic live action, he just wants Tom and pals.
If i wanted dark fantasy anime series with actual depth, i rather watch Berserk or Claymore.
It's actually getting a second anime season I think in January or somewhere around that time. It's actually quite funny and one of my fave isekai series.
