STOP GIVING THIS FASCIST, FROG-FACED ARSE ANY AIRTIME OR PRINT!
You don't agree with Reform and its right-wing policies and yet, at any and every opportunity, you splash this prat's smug face all over your publication.
You are your own worst enemy.
And fast becoming ours.
Sort. Your. Shit. Out.
Yeah Marina and @theguardian.com , you and the rest of the media all horned up about those rascals over at Reform instead of just being revolted and disgusted. Clicks and giggles, eh?
Labour aren’t asleep. They’re actively pursuing right wing policies on both a social and economic level and effectively paving the way for Farage or some other lunatic to come into power.
From what I can see the political parties need to change their names
The Greens have become Labour
The Lib Dems have become New Labour
Labour have become Conservatives
The Conservatives have become UKIP
Reform are trying to be the Republicans (racist, nationalist authoritarians)
What a future!
Populous knob, simple solutions to complex problems & never delivers! From the man who championed Brexit and now distances himself from it ! Convince the gullible to put economic sanctions on themselves. How many fools ? They swallowed crap before.🙄
The reality being that no media company seems able to properly interrogate Farage on his past failures (Brexit, attending only 1 committee meeting as an MEP) whilst simultaneously never properly scrutinising him on present policies & lack of a detailed feasible plans.
Farage has an entire channel spouting love which Labour have allowed OFCOM to ignore. But that doesn't explain the vote today which is a plague on both your houses. The public aren't going to forget Tory 14 years in a hurry. But Starmer had a chance to do an Atlee reset and totally bottled it.
Media mightn't be of much value any longer but they didn't cause this landslide which is beyond anyone's expectations. The large number of people, who feel left out identified with Brexit, are still there, ignored by the Tories and now Labour. They just showed their strength again.
Some of the comments on the live feed from people saying those insulting the intelligence of those voting for Reform are to blame as "these people are really struggling". WE KNOW. Voting Reform will not help them. They represent the wealthy 0.1%. They will make the lives of their voters even worse.
If you blame the electorate you’re the problem. People need to understand that many voters have given up on the Conservatives and Labour for no other reason than they’ve seen what happens when they form a government. If Labour doesn’t want to lose to Reform it needs to satisfy voters.
Progressive all the way. For which they'll need to be more combative with the right-wing press. Pull them up, call them out, take them on. Leveson 2.0. The fact-free zones of opinion columnists that dominate the UK right-wing media needs to be challenged one-by-one daily if anything is to change.
Like what Trump is doing, but in defense of truth, not attacking it obviously.
The cowardly capitulation to the right-wing press is going to be the death by 1000 cuts of the UK. The drip drip drip of right wing poison and lies into the bloodstream of public discourse will be the end of us all.
Remind me - how many Labour governments has there been? People keep saying they want Labour to be socialist. It’s never been socialist. It is social democratic. There’s a difference. Labour had never been for revolution.
Exactly - there haven't been many Labour govts, for a reason. See thread below.
Labour has never been socialist because it has never been allowed to be. And it gets increasingly constrained with each passing year. Which is why they're indistinguishable from the Tories atm.
Correct. The establishment is our deep state. British people deep down want to be in this establishment not outside it. Hence the long success of Tories in industrial towns of the North. Farage is part of the establishment but pretends he isn’t. But the working class want someone to doth the cap to
They are gaining votes mostly from the conservatives, and also a some from Labour - the sitting party tend to lose
LibDem Green and others are gaining a lot
If they go socialist again that would be bad. Socialism killed 1 gajillion people in the 20th century and it’s on track to kill 2.485 gajillion in the 21st century
Where did you get this clueless, overprivileged b****, Hyde from, @theguardian.com ? Still selling the Guardian line about how Labour moving left will lose them votes. Utter twaddle, deliberate blindness and bollox. It is Labour moving further right, as they promise to do, faster, that will do that.
Marina Hyde helped welcome a Boris Johnson government when there was a Labour party offering actual change, and then gave Starmer an easy ride in the GE campaign. She's now shocked that Labour are doing what many people said they would in continuing the neoliberalism of the last 40 years.
What did brexit bring the uk? Nothing to do with left or right!? Health system in shambles and no improvement in sight, certainly not with farage @theguardian.com
Is Farage in charge of health in the UK? Sorry I must’ve missed that bit. Please explain how brexit has been negative to you personally, if you have the capacity to do so
There are no positives to brexit. Not a single one.
Negatives? Visiting the EU is more expensive and bureaucratic, postage across Europe has shot way up, prices have gone up, and because we no longer are able to use the Dublin agreement, we can no longer send boat people straight back to Calais.
Since EVERY day The Guardian ignores the Liberal Democrats, this Progressive will not give a Penny Piece!!! Zero.
Today, the day after the Local Elections is a point in case....libdems great success totally ignored !!!
Very pi**ed off!!
Ironically both Labour and the Guardian are in trouble for the same reason. I used to be a Guardian subscriber. No longer. Their bizarre decision to join in on the Corbyn hatchet job, lost me. Similarly Labour lost me due to its lurch to the right. Neither, apparently understand their base
Good luck to those who live in BNP err I mean Reform councils. Especially if you are a minority. I think we will finally see how much Farage cares about working people and how much he cares about giving tax breaks to the wealthy at the expense of essential services!
Of course you can count on The Guardian and Marina Hyde (aka the left's Sarah Vine) to feign outrage, when actually they either don't really care, or secretly wanted this all along.
So true but the media won't show it like that, Tory votes just went to reform, Liberal Democrats and Greens actually had an impressive result, if only they would combine "Liberal Green Democrats" they would worry New Labour and Conservative/Reform..
Fascists have some success in local elections. A fascist wins a Westminster seat. The media continues its love fest, with no context such as low turn out, the larger vote take was for other parties and maliciously mistepresenting voting intentions and AS such over egging the importance of the win!!
Problem is theres no votes in being honest about asylum seekers and the laws that govern them, only votes in lying and claiming you have a way to stop it, whether its tories, labour or frog face , so nothing changes and people get angrier and angrier.

Why do we have to suffer these?
Just another proof there is no god, or at least, none worthy of worshipping.
Man extremely excited as he reveals he stuck four fingers and two thumbs up his bum
Just as he did JC's head to his dubious backers.
We're goosestepping towards the foothills of fascism...

Mumble something about balancing the books, re-hash the latest Reform line on immigrants.

Learn the lesson from the USA i.e. if you suppress Bernie Sanders, you'll get Donald Trump.
They suppressed Jeremy Corbyn and are cosplaying the Tories, so Nigel Farage is looking inevitable atm.

The devil you don't know is seldom better than the devil you do!
LibDem Green and others are gaining a lot
I'll also admit to this kind of cop out, yet am also perplexed as to a decent causal analysis and practicable solution.
Though with American collapse, Eastern threat, climate chaos, etc. Farage may yet be the least of our worries.
Less Counsellors then the Greens
Much less than the LibDems and Labour
... what tears

It's weird to believe there is an direct overlap of voters between Labour and reform tbh.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
One would think the voters are adults.
